The 2023 Annual

Town Meeting

Friday 26th May 2023

In Bedlington Community Centre

Starting at 6.00pm

All electors in the parish of West Bedlington Town Council are invited to take part in this meeting to be held at Bedlington Community Centre, Front Street West, Bedlington NE22 5TT.

The meeting is not a meeting of the Town Council, it is very informal and is an opportunity for electors to meet and discuss any matters relating to the Town (Parish).

A suggested agenda for the meeting is given below.

1. Welcome from Chair of the meeting.
2. To accept any apologies for absence.
3. Minutes of the meeting held on 22nd April 2022. Draft minutes attached.
4. Key Note Speakers –
   1. Councillor G Sanderson (Northumberland County Council Leader) will introduce members of Northumberland County Council.
   2. Northumberland Business Cabinet member – Ploszaj Wojciech and Bedlington Lead Regeneration Officer Janice Rose.  
5. A discussion by electors of West Bedlington Parish concerning any matters relating to the Town (Parish).

The Parish meeting has a general power to discuss parish affairs and pass resolutions thereon.

Such resolutions will not bind the Town Council.

1. The Chair will close the meeting.

 

Free refreshments will be available at the conclusion of the meeting.

AM1/22          1.WELCOME TO THE MEETING.

Councillor Wallace (Meeting Chair) welcomed those present to the Annual Meeting of the Town for 2022. 

AM2/22           2. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE.

                          Apologies were received from West Bedlington Town Councillor B Crosby.

 

AM3/22          3. MINUTES OF LAST ANNUAL MEETING 2021

                        RESOLVED to APPROVE the draft minutes presented as a true record of The Annual Meeting of The Town held on 27th May 2021.          

AM4/22          4. DISCUSSION / PROPOSALS FROM ELECTORS

1. A resident asked if there had been any progress in relation to the previous years approved proposal in relation to community space in the proposed new Town Centre development.  The meeting Chair advised that he had nothing to share, and The Town Clerk confirmed that The Town Council had no further information in relation to the proposal. Northumberland County Council Councillor Christine Taylor offered to discuss the matter with the resident after the meeting.

 

AM5/22         5. THE NORTHUMBERLAND LINE

1. The meeting heard 3 very informative and enlightening presentations about The Northumberland Lines past, present (campaign to reopen) and its future. The meeting was very appreciative of the speakers from Bedlington Historical Society, SENRUG (South East Northumberland Rail User Group) and Morgan Sindall Engineering Solutions Limited (contractors for the new stations along the Northumberland Line.)
