2020 REMEMBRANCE SERVICE AND PARADE – ANNOUNCEMENT
Due to the risks involved with the current pandemic and to maintain the safety of the people of Bedlington, West Bedlington Town Council and Bedlington Churches Together have after careful and extensive consideration, regrettably decided that this year’s traditional Remembrance Day Service and Parade will not take place.
As a Town we will always remember those who endured terrible suffering, honour those who lost their lives and pay our respects.
We would encourage organisations and individuals to pay their respects safely in their own time to protect and honour our veterans, their families, and the generations to come. Wreaths, Poppies and Crosses can be purchased from The Royal British Legion (contact details below) and laid at the War Memorial (in a responsibly “Socially distanced manner”) at any time during Remembrance Week.
The Mayor of West Bedlington Town Council will lay a wreath on behalf of all residents of the town and again this will be undertaken in a socially distanced manner with no formal ceremony.
Collectively we can all come together as a town and nation by following the national television broadcast of the national services of remembrance from Whitehall, London at 11am on Sunday 8th November 2020.
More locally, individuals and organisations may wish to share their own poppy laying by sending a recording to:
